Who?
Daniele Nocciolini is the R&D Project Coordinator at IMA AUTOMATION. He earned a PhD in Industrial Engineering from the University of Florence in 2016, where he also pursued postdoctoral research for a year. Dr. Nocciolini joined ATOP in 2018 as a designer of automated mass-production lines and a feasibility analyst for electric motors. He was later appointed Special Projects Engineer in the Research and Development department, focusing on the design of non-standard machines and the advancement of laser welding processes. Currently, he coordinates all research and development activities related to system mechanics, software, and the automation of stator production lines. His team specializes in non-standard projects, including non-hairpin motors (CFW and Axial Flux Motors), and pioneers innovations in hairpin processes through advanced laser-based manufacturing and smart plastic deformation techniques. Dr. Nocciolini has authored more than 25 scientific publications and has been granted 9 patents throughout his career in academia and industry.
Why?
IMA AUTOMATION, part of IMA Group, is a globally leading company with more than 40 years in electric motor assembly manufacturing solution for automotive and industrial applications. The company holds more than 450 patents and has been pioneered the development of electromobility in the last 15 years with the hairpin stator technology as well as EESM and PM rotor. Other consolidated technologies are: insertion, needle and flyer winding, single poles. In the last years, IMA AUTOMATION has collected several experience in Axial Flux poles winding supporting our customers in the evaluation and development of their applications by providing samples, experimental tests and equipment. The CliMAFlux project is relevant for IMA AUTOMATION because the development of axial flux motors is growing significantly in recent years and giving a contribution on Design for Manufacturing is an important step to make a nice performing and compact motor, an attractive motor for the automotive industry. We believe that thanks to our experience in the construction of automatic lines for the electric motors production it will be possible to give the project an industrial point of view and a competitive advantage in its future development.
